There’s nothing like being out in the fresh air taking in the sights and sounds of the river to make you feel good about yourself. Regardless of if you’re just out for a leisurely paddle or if you take the sport of kayaking seriously, Wall Eden Farm offers the chance to explore the beautiful River Brue at your own pace, taking in all the fantastic wildlife and history that it has to offer! Paddle directly from the farm across the beautiful Somerset levels in the South West, via the quaint villages of East Huntspill and Burtle in the direction of the world famous festival town of Glastonbury.

The River Brue has been navigable for thousands of years, once used as a vital water passage for traders and Romans to aid the movement of peat after it’s extraction across the Somerset Levels. From your kayak, you can see World War Two pillboxes which formed part of the British Defensive Line, with the aim of preventing the German forces from invading. If some more serious water based exploration of the river is what you’re after, you can hire a kayak for a full eight hour day where you’ll meet some famous Somerset landmarks along the way too!

Upon arrival to Wall Eden, you’ll be kitted out with buoyancy jackets, paddles and a dry bag before heading over to the water with a member of staff. Your session will start with a demonstration on how to use the paddle, how to control your kayak (and work with your paddling partner if you’re paddling in a tandem kayak) and a brief introduction to the river and surrounding area. After a safety briefing, you’ll be aided into your kayak and sent heading up stream through the Somerset countryside. From there, you’ll be within the depths of natural wildlife habitats including Kingfishers, Swans and Otters and you’ll be free to explore the magnificent River Brue in your own time!

We have both tandem and solo kayaks available but please note that we cannot allow solo kayakers out onto the river alone. Children under the age of 16 must also be accompanied by a minimum of two adults.

Just a few miles away from Burnham on Sea, Weston-super-Mare, Bridgwater and Cheddar, we’re in the perfect location for kayaking. We’re also easily accessed from Bristol and Taunton and driving is not a necessity too; We’re only five minutes away from our local train station Highbridge and Burnham with local taxis and bus services available all day.

You can view further information or book your session by visiting our adventure website and selecting ‘kayaking’ under the activities tab. If you prefer to speak to us, please don’t hesitate to give us a call on 01278 786488 and chat with one of our friendly team!
